Based on the novel by Nicolai Gogol, Dead Souls tells the story of Tchitchikov (Margarida Gonçalves), who travels through an unnamed city with a mysterious intent. Buying serfs that despite being dead still show up in the census. In these travels he crosses path with several landowners, like Mr. Manilov (Tiago Jácome), Mrs. Sobakevitch (Mafalda Pinto Correia), Mrs. Korobochka (Manel Nabais), who in their attempt to hide their corruption reveal it even more. A raw portrayal of humanity that step by step unveils its mechanism.
Directed by António Júlio, Dead Souls was selected and performed in the International Theatre Festival of Iberian Expression.
